Choosing a FOI toothbrush: wide-head, ultra-soft or triple-sided?

Compare head shape, bristle arrangement and handling across three adult brushes. The useful question is whether you can comfortably reach each tooth surface—not which design sounds most impressive.

Start with how the brush fits

Think about reaching the back teeth and the inside surfaces. Can you move the head comfortably and control its angle? A larger head, dense bristles or a different construction is a design feature, not a result by itself.

The American Dental Association recommends a soft-bristled brush whose size and shape fit your mouth, with gentle cleaning of the outer, inner and chewing surfaces. Our comparison focuses on handling rather than ranking product performance. Read the ADA brushing guide.

Wide-head: check the room to manoeuvre

FOI’s Wide-Head Soft Toothbrush has a stated head length of 45 mm, PBT soft bristles and a PP handle, in Champagne Gold or Flame Red. Before choosing the elongated head, consider whether you can comfortably angle it behind and inside your back teeth.

If you prefer a smaller head, there is no need to switch for appearance alone. Head length does not establish a shorter brushing time. Explore the wide-head brush.

Ultra-soft: consider the bristle bed and grip

The confirmed specification lists 0.065 mm filaments, a long deep-blue handle and a dense white bristle bed. Focus on how the brush feels and how easily you can control the handle.

The product name is not a reason to press harder. Check for residue after cleaning and inspect bristles that have spread or changed shape. Explore the ultra-soft brush.

Triple-sided: understand the positioning

This brush has central and side sections, with red, deep-blue and white colour options and a textured reverse. Read the pack directions to understand how the sections should be positioned.

Pay attention to contact with the actual tooth surfaces. Three sections do not mean that a single pass completes cleaning, and the design does not replace interdental care advised by a dentist. Explore the triple-sided brush.

Before buying

  • Check the head shape and dimensions against your own handling needs.
  • Confirm materials, directions and suitability on the pack.
  • Ask a dentist about suitable tools if you have braces, persistent bleeding or another oral-health concern.
