Reading a toothpaste label: flavour, 130 g and the information beyond the name
Flavour, net weight, formulation and age suitability answer different questions. Use FOI Aquatic Mint toothpaste as a starting point for a more useful label check.
Read the information in separate parts
A memorable name or pattern is useful for recognising a product. Choosing one also involves its formulation, intended users, quantity and directions. None of these details substitutes for the others.
Confirmed details for FOI Daily Whitening Toothpaste are Aquatic Mint flavour, 130 g net weight per tube, blue-and-white patterned packaging and a pale-blue cap. See the product details.
Aquatic Mint describes a flavour
The name describes the flavour direction. Preferences for taste and a cooling sensation vary. A minty sensation does not establish cavity protection or a specific number of hours of fresh breath.
“Daily Whitening” is part of the product name. Read the product information without interpreting it as a guarantee of a fixed shade change within a set number of days. Personal experience also does not replace a dental examination.
What 130 g means
It is the net weight of one tube. When comparing a bundle, check both the number of tubes and the weight of each. Three 130 g tubes total 390 g; that calculation says nothing about equivalence in performance or how long another brand lasts.
Usage depends on the quantity used each time and the number of users. Match the listing and pack contents to what you actually need rather than assuming a fixed duration.
Check fluoride and age suitability separately
The NHS recommends fluoride toothpaste for adults and checking its concentration on the pack, with at least 1,350 ppm in its adult guidance. Flavour and a whitening name cannot establish this information. This article does not infer the fluoride content of this FOI product or its suitability for children; check the full label and individual dental advice. Read the NHS teeth-cleaning guide.
